“Chance”

                                in Memory of

                 "Chance Ryan"

                 Born  9-5-90

                Died  3-16-99

You were a bit of a miracle

they never thought you could be

your birth was quite a spectacle

a most wondrous thing to see…

I never knew you in this life,

I’ve only heard from your father,

your coming to be were full of strife

you were cherished, never a bother.

They named you as you were, a “Chance”

So proud your dad was of you….

You were growing up fast, he saw in a glance

you were his boy….through and through.

That terrible night when you were still young

when all went still and black

As the car split apart, and terror hung

Perilous time, your dad lost all track.

In panicked frenzy to save you, he tried

all efforts for naught….  but not remiss

It was in his arms that you lay and died

and he gave you one last kiss.

The angels up in heaven will take good care of you -

The hundreds at your funeral were overheard to say.

Oh, to have known you then...and I know it's true

...you are nestled in my heart, an unknown memory to stay.

This poem was written in memory of Chance Ryan Amones, who was killed in

an auto accident before his tenth birthday.  His miracle conception and

birth, and tragic death in a freak auto mishap… portrayed that this young

person was indeed a blessing of chance and Grace.
