Cover My Heart

I have covered my heart, it’s not too late

where thou art, it could be Fate.

I’ve slapped up the wall, complete with a moat

In the water you fall;  there is no boat.

I raked all my sins, through the ashes and fire

Ignored the grins, and was called a liar.

Must stop the bleeding, or I will die.

Just stop the needing, and I will not cry.

Dig up my cross, it is mine to bear,

Only my albatross, not mine to share.

It is my loss, my heart will care,

Over which to gloss, my only prayer …

It’s never a dream, continuing fear

Stifling a scream, forming a tear.

Why does it seem, you turn a deaf ear?

You’re so extreme…and in your own sphere.

I cover my heart now, you cannot see -

We hover apart how, how cannot you not see?

My lover where art thou, do you not see?

Uncover my heart now, please set it free.
