The Quickening of Love

Through Eternity I have searched and waited for someone

    as carefree and spontaneous as a child's summer day;

but deliberately principled in Life's purpose, in some way

    I'm sending………

My love professed and promised to someone unknown for now,

Is sent in a card for hopes to find that person still out there

who is searching and waiting as I, but afraid to care

    Unbending.

So many times I thought I had found you, but in looking again,

I was hopeful, yet wrong; disappointment was inevitable.

Warnings from others, so deaf was I, and now-regrettable,

    Never-ending.

My days were dull, and nights were filled with a void I can never

reveal to my journal...my only lover on paper, you see.

The words and feelings and arduous hopes pour out of me,

    Un-ending.

Through electric wanderings all over the world, my heart yearns

to rest, then gasps with miraculous wonder

at suddenly spotting The Heart in the clouds over yonder...

    and blending.

Shall we try it and see?  Is it happening to me?  My Life

hastens to gather up tempo, to fall in step and to dance

with the risk--Have I found you?  My Heart...per chance

       Is mending.
